About This Game

In Your Realm gives an old-school, challenging, RPG roguelike experience with randomized
encounters and a unique combat system.
To beat the game the player needs to plow through every weakness of their personality -
represented in the game as different bosses in their respective worlds - to finally take on
the ultimate challenge.

In Your Realm is in part a homage to classic titles such as Golden Axe, Mega Man and Zelda:
A link to the past, where focus lies on challenging and fun gameplay with
good replayability. Each of every one of the hundred of unique monsters in the game offers
their own set of attacks and behaviors. Every decent run grants the player rewards to spend
to introduce new elements and buffs in the next run.
Altogether this makes every play a different experience.

Features:


  • 100 unique monsters.
  • Skill tree that evolves based on: spells found, skills aquired, attributes leveled, bosses killed and your playstyle.
  • Armors and weapons, displayed on the character.
  • Randomized labyrinth of rooms and encounters/rewards in them.
  • Characteristics gained by playing in a certain manner. These give specific bonuses/penalties in alignment with that playstyle.
  • Extra lives when progressing beyond the first boss (in easy and normal difficulties).
  • Activatable rewards after each decent run.

Got a few hours in by now and thought I'd give this game a review for anyone who wants some more info on this indie game.

Graphics on mobs and characters is pretty rich in detail aswell as colour. Speciall & uncommon encounters are well worked. Traveling merchants however needs some kind of dialogue or tool-tip to give better detail about items for sale.

Soundtrack is just top notch! My personal favorite so far is the one playing in the Casino whilst beting on what Dwarf is gonna win me money while risking his live running a race of death vs 3 others.

Gameplay is at first pretty tough (unless you go lollipop difficulty) but after a few runs you should recognize what makes a potential good run. My longest run thus far lasted about 1 hour and took me through 2 bosses and after that death, death and final death. Weapons scale with different stats.
Lvling just str and nothing else like 5 times or something made me a retard (aka. Savanth) in everything else but gave me extra super str. Running over bugs on the map gave me a sadistic trait I'm still unsure if it's beneficiall or not. Bagging loads of gold in the casino apparently made me a *hoarder* wich rewarded me with a spell that allowed me to throw money everywhere to deal dmg every now and then.

After finding spells more often than not you can later chose to lvl the spells instead of lvling attributes.
Another thing I noticed is set-bonuses from equipping gear of similar types. Although mixing special attributed gear seems like a better recipie in the long run.

Thers just so much to explore in regards of character building depth it amazes me! Depending on what traits I combine I get different set of skills and the npcs can usually be defeated in more than 1 way. Using either speed, stealth, brute force or blocking\/reading patterns.

Take my advice, get the bloodbags-armour to stash blood from mobs to get better sustain. Get the jesters hat for cool looks and more gold obv. Also get the shiny golden hammer for more gold, because You want to hoard Gold! ;). This might be your first experience playing the game.

Third Room: Alright i'm starting to get the hang of this now.


Fourth Room: Cool a chest! got myself some nice items and amazing skills!

IYR Update #20190420 (Fixed White-screen bug!):
After countless days of trying to fix the loading time at start-up, we are happy to announce we have made a breakthrough! The startup time (whitescreen) has been reduced by 90%, and will be more or less gone by the next update.
This has resulted in a few seconds longer loading time on the first game started.
Please be sure to report any bugs you notice as part of this, and we'll be on them right away.

Other tweaks:
- Starting the game in Easy mode(Lollipop), to reduce hairtearing for new players
- Increased the droprate of basic supplies on Easy mode (Lollipop)
- Deleted intro video at startup
- Tons of performance related improvements
- Living tunnels in cave no longer show above the character in certain positions
- The straight shooting coin spell now correctly loads from saves
- Additional minor fixes

. Upcoming deal (reduced price):
As of next monday (17th), In Your Realm will have it's pricetag reduced. So if you are thinking about purchasing this week, have that in mind and perhaps wait until then for a better deal.

- Bugfix that would let the player level up when dying, causing a crash.
- Increase in monologue variety and correcting some typo's.
